Gram Bikash Sangstha (GBS)

A non-profitable, non-political, non-partisan and non-governmental development organization of northern Bangladesh.

Gram Bikash Sangstha (GBS), established in 1991 in Gabtoli, Bogura, began its journey with a strong commitment to improving the lives of women and girls, especially those facing violence, poverty, and marginalization. Alongside this, GBS works extensively to uphold the rights and socio-economic well-being of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and other underprivileged groupsThrough a combination of community organization, rights advocacy, and legal support, GBS addresses a wide range of social development issues. The organization conducts needs assessments for marginalized populations and provides access to microfinance, skill development, and self-employment opportunities to enhance economic resilience.

GBS promotes gender equality, child rights, non-formal education, and maternal and child healthcare, as well as nutrition, safe water, and sanitation. It also plays an active role in disaster risk reduction, climate change awareness, and the promotion of environment-friendly agricultural practicesGBS believes in strong partnerships and collaborates with government bodies, NGOs, and international organizations to ensure inclusive, sustainable, and community-led development.

Success Story of GBS Bangladesh

Empowering Through Livestock

GBS distributed cows and goats to underprivileged families, enabling sustainable livelihoods and long-term income generation for over 300 households.

Restoring Hearing, Restoring Hope

Over 200 individuals with hearing disabilities received hearing aids, helping them reconnect with their families, communities, and opportunities.

Education for Every Child

GBS provided books, school bags, and educational materials to hundreds of children, making learning accessible for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Clothing with Dignity

Essential clothing was distributed among underprivileged men, women, and children, ensuring dignity, warmth, and comfort for more than 500 beneficiaries.

Strengthening Voices Through Seminars

GBS regularly organizes seminars and community meetings to raise awareness about rights, health, education, and disaster preparedness across rural communities.
